it all started with doen’s pascual jacket, part of their new pre-fall collection. a deviation from their typical feminine, bohemian, and vintage-inspired designs, this jacket stood out like a sore thumb. while established in 2016 in los angeles, the brand exploded this spring and summer. hype and cult-like excitement culminated with their highly anticipated, quickly sold-out collab with gap, allowing doen to expose themselves to and rope in a wider audience with their prairie style white blouses and silky floral dresses. doen catapulted the white, floor-grazing skirt into fashion prominence along with mary janes, loosely fitting cotton dresses — almost identical to your grandmother’s nightgown — and eyelet everything. with boho chic (re)claiming the summer, as noted by vogue, i’ve begun pondering its cooler-weather counterpart for the approaching fall season.

in formal gen z parlance, we're heading for a 'horse girl autumn,’ and doen’s pascual barn-style jacket popping up in my inbox solidified my prediction. high waisted dark denim with a mini-flare, skinny jeans tucked into brown knee-high boots, leather belts, suede jackets, and tucked in button downs. maybe even the return of hunter boots, which i’m sure you have dusting away in your closet (bonus points if they are in the brand’s iconic bright yellow or green). think ralph lauren, ciao lucia, stella mccartney, chloe, sezane, toteme, miu miu, and of course, more doen. with kendall jenner and gigi hadid riding across the place vendome in hermes for vogue world (see here) and ralph lauren being the official outfitter of team usa in the olympics, this aesthetic is poised to dominate our wardrobes in the coming months.
